2 Weeks ago, I introduced a petrified and tearful Wee One to her new swimming teacher, Kate. I was at my wit’s end trying to get her past her fear of water. Even though we have a pool in our back yard and she was in it all the time, she had zero trust in her [...] We leave tomorrow on our “working vacation”. I’m nowhere near ready. Can you tell I’m not looking forward to it? Hubby said much the same thing last night as we sat in the living room, not packing. It wouldn’t be so bad, but the kids will be along, and there is nothing worse than driving long [...] Last night as I was tidying up I came across a crumpled piece of what I thought was scrap notebook paper, laying on the floor in the hallway. Odd place for someone to be chucking garbage, I thought, somewhat annoyed. Opening the paper, I realized it was a “quiet note” – you remember those, right? Where [...]
Found a horrifying note… I’m heartsick My Teen has a friend that hails from a broken home, and I knew there were issues there with both parents, but until I found the note the Teen accidentally dropped on the floor I didn’t pay too much attention… I’m just heart broken for this young girl. I’m going [...] We had our obligatory visit from the Easter Bunny last night, and I thought I’d share a few snaps taken of the kids – mostly Wee One, because The Teen kept shrieking “Don’t take my picture!” like her bed head was anything other than the norm these days. These things must be documented for posterity, [...] What a beautiful weekend! The snow is melting, the sun is shining, and all is right with the world. Wee One was tickled to be outside with just a light jacket, and able to swing in the sunshine. (We’re also tickled that her two bottom teeth are finally coming in!) Please, Mother Nature… let it stay! [...] Remember when, a few days ago, I told you to clean up your toys? I was pretty nice about it, right? Even though the piles/unholy amount of brightly coloured plastic was beyond ridiculous? And remember when I told you the same thing a couple days later, and I was still pretty nice, but getting that expression [...] I’ve been asked a lot recently about who the folks I talk about on my blog actually are. I’m sure some of you wonder what the heck I’m up to sometimes, too. It can get a bit tedious (for you as well as me) to explain relationships every time I mention someone, so to that end, [...] Yesterday was a long, long day. Wee One and I arrived at ShaMoo’s for babysitting duty in the early AM, because her youngest son was due at Toronto’s Sick Kids hospital for a serious procedure that morning, and I offered to stay with Princess Little Bit. I won’t go in to the whole thing – [...] Wee One is my quiet, introspective child. Truth be told, she has a shyness issue, and new people and situations scare the bejeebers out of her. We’re working on it, and she has come a long way since last year. But at home where it’s safe… my quiet child becomes a ROCK STAR! A couple [...] There will always be things you don’t know about me… but I’ll share a fun secret with you today. The Teen and I love shooting things. It’s true. Are you shocked? We spent a fun but frigid morning shooting cans and targets in the back yard while the Hubbie watched from the office window and stayed toasty [...] Last year my family sat around, dazed, as we opened our Christmas gifts. At first, the kids were really into it, and tore in with great enthusiasm. Then a strange thing happened… the excitement waned, the piles of torn paper and discarded gift bags grew, and presents were barely glanced at as they were revealed, and set [...] I’m in a bit of a Zen place right now. Trying hard to hold onto the peaceful calm that settled over me while we were on vacation, soaking up the rays on the beach in Florida. I know if I give in and really “get back to it” that my stress levels will jump again, and [...]
Happy 5th Birthday my Wee [...] Poor Boo, we do abuse her patience so. Yesterday we found a display of hallowe’en costumes for kitties, and when we saw the bunny ears, well, we had to have them. I mean really – how cute is Boo? When the girls got home from school today, Wee One immediately grabbed the ears again, and put them [...] We had my father’s 65th birthday party last night. Wee One helped me decorate… Doodle Cakes furnished a completely fantastic cake, encompassing many characteristics unique to my Dad… To explain this wonderful creation; My father is a super hero, leaping to the aid of anyone in our family who shows any distress (whether we want him to or [...] OF course by now everyone knows that my Teen was at camp almost all summer – I’ve certainly talked about it enough! Didn’t have much in the way of pictures though – today, even though I’m SUPER late with this addition (Sorry Mary!) I thought I’d put some of her personal pictures together for a Mosaic [...] I’m going to switch gears for a minute and talk about something that has been bothering me for years. For a long time I’ve found toddler beauty pageants disturbing. I can’t be the only person who clearly sees how destructive and, well, evil it is for these disgusting, socially retarded people to dress innocents up like [...] The Teen and I had a Mother-Daughter evening out, just the two of us, in celebration (ok, I was celebrating, she wasn’t) her return to high school tomorrow. Sing it with me now: It’s the Most WONDERFUL Time… of the year!!! Anyway. Because she was away almost the whole summer, she had not yet seen the latest Harry [...] I’ve decided that ShaMoo needs some air time too, so from now on my partner in crime, sister in song, cohort in chaos will be Guest Posting every so often for your reading pleasure.
