Well, we’re still on the road, but the trip has been better than expected so far! The past few days have been quiet since we’ve been with Hubby’s dad and his wife, but prior to that we spent a day kayaking on the Bay of Fundy, whale watching in the Halifax harbor, and parked on a beach [...] We leave tomorrow on our “working vacation”. I’m nowhere near ready. Can you tell I’m not looking forward to it? Hubby said much the same thing last night as we sat in the living room, not packing. It wouldn’t be so bad, but the kids will be along, and there is nothing worse than driving long [...] Just a quick update to our anniversary evening. We had a wonderful meal at a small Italian restaurant called Pasqualino’s – and when I say wonderful, I mean my eyes were rolling back in my head it was so good! Our waiter, Frank, took a decidedly unspectacular picture of us: We had a lot of laughs, shared [...] Not your history! Mine! ;) A year ago today, four people met in a kitchen, unsure of how to get things started. They knew what they wanted, but didn’t really know how they were going to do it. They had no backup, and only a few sheets of paper to go by. It was a rocky [...] First, Sorry to the 3 lovely folks who stopped by for an early peek at TOMORROW’S Haiku – I really should not work so late at night. I set it to publish today instead of properly tomorrow. I’ve yanked it, and it will REpublish after midnight tonight. Sheeeesh. Now: Happy 64+1 birthday to my Mom! Why [...] Knarf is always going on about how great the hiking is along the trails he and Zack frequent. I’ve tried to make time to go with him, but it has just never panned out for whatever reason. Yesterday, I finally got all my ducks in a row, and bullied no, coerced managed to get the Hubby [...] We had our obligatory visit from the Easter Bunny last night, and I thought I’d share a few snaps taken of the kids – mostly Wee One, because The Teen kept shrieking “Don’t take my picture!” like her bed head was anything other than the norm these days. These things must be documented for posterity, [...] So that was fun. Not. As most of you know, I underwent PRK Advanced Custom Wavefront laser eye surgery last Monday. Following that has been, in all honesty, the week from hell. A quick [simplified] lesson in the differences between Lasik and PRK surgeries: With Lasik, there is a flap of tissue lifted on your eye, which [...] A few weeks ago, Jenn asked me to do this particular guest post as she had spent the day babysitting Little Bit while Frank #2 was having surgery. Just a disclaimer folks… this post is a bit of a downer. I tried to jazz it up, but it hits a little too close to [...] Remember when, a few days ago, I told you to clean up your toys? I was pretty nice about it, right? Even though the piles/unholy amount of brightly coloured plastic was beyond ridiculous? And remember when I told you the same thing a couple days later, and I was still pretty nice, but getting that expression [...] I’ve been asked a lot recently about who the folks I talk about on my blog actually are. I’m sure some of you wonder what the heck I’m up to sometimes, too. It can get a bit tedious (for you as well as me) to explain relationships every time I mention someone, so to that end, [...] So, I didn’t sleep last night. Anyone who stops by here often enough knows that isn’t something new for me. So be it. I had a great evening though – the four of us had a very successful first rehearsal with our new music (all wonderful love songs) as we gear up for the wedding (and whatnot) [...] Looking back, it’s been a pretty fantastic year for me. I started blogging only 8 months ago, yet I feel that I’ve been doing this all my life. It’s just something that feels right to me. I’ve made many bloggy friends, and for that I am grateful. You’ve all enriched my life in so many ways [...] I had been waiting to talk about our concert on the 12th until I had some of the recordings to share with you – it went so well, and we’ve been asked to come back again next year. We were high on adrenaline for days after, and continue to get terrific feedback even now. So great [...] My throat was a bit sore today, so instead of joining my comrades in a caroling gig the large group had scheduled (they can do without me for this!!) I decided today was the day the tree would go up. I did wait until the Hubby went to work though – he gets all huffy when [...] Last year my family sat around, dazed, as we opened our Christmas gifts. At first, the kids were really into it, and tore in with great enthusiasm. Then a strange thing happened… the excitement waned, the piles of torn paper and discarded gift bags grew, and presents were barely glanced at as they were revealed, and set [...] I’m in a bit of a Zen place right now. Trying hard to hold onto the peaceful calm that settled over me while we were on vacation, soaking up the rays on the beach in Florida. I know if I give in and really “get back to it” that my stress levels will jump again, and [...] I’ve been back home for a couple days, but I really can’t get back into the hectic bustle of day to day life and blogging for some reason! Maybe its due to the fact that I was actually able to relax this time, and my body and mind are rejecting the reintroduction of stress. That has [...] A house is not a home without a dog. Or a cat. Preferably both. I could do without the cichlids and their giant tank that takes up too much space. The land hermit crabs? Surprisingly not cuddly, and again, giant tank. Guinea pigs? Not crossing that bridge again, thanks, and that includes rodents of any configuration, [...]
