J-B solo-ing tonight for our concert! J-B is doing a great solo bit in a song we’re doing in our final concert of the 2009-2010 season (the big group, not Main Street!) He sounds great! Impromptu tickle fests with my sleepy-eyed kids on my giant king-size bed, a quiet moment with my husband, singing with my friends… little things. I don’t need extravagant gifts, flowers, accolades or awards. I don’t need people pounding me on the back for doing what [...] …telling it like it is. Is that a good thing, I wonder? My family and friends certainly know where they stand with me, but sometimes I think maybe I’m too much of an open book. Is a little mystery a good thing? “Familiarity breeds contempt” crosses my mind. I’m pretty sure those closest to me don’t need [...] Knarf is always going on about how great the hiking is along the trails he and Zack frequent. I’ve tried to make time to go with him, but it has just never panned out for whatever reason. Yesterday, I finally got all my ducks in a row, and bullied no, coerced managed to get the Hubby [...] This third installment of the “Interview With…” series is all about three of the most important people in my life; ShaMoo, J-B, and Knarf. Photography by Leah Kirin I’ve known these characters for about 5 years now, give [...] Not quite a month ago, I wrote about something going a bit awry with our larger choral group. One of the Basses had decided to pull something rather nasty, which caused quite an uproar. (Things are better now, and we’re working on new material for our June concert.) When I mentioned that they’d be singing Unchained [...] Something unsavory has been going on in our larger choral group that we sing with lately. We are a great group of about 55 voices. Strangely enough, out of that nice number, only 5 are tenors (including John-Boy), and out of that 5, only 4 are men (um, also including J-B!). That leaves, of course, one [...] Yesterday I shared a song that we recorded at our first Studio session last week. I have to tell you, that night was one of the best ever. Definitely an item that we could all cross off of our collective bucket list! ShaMoo, Knarf, John-Boy and I sang our hearts out and had a wonderful time. [...] I’ve been asked a lot recently about who the folks I talk about on my blog actually are. I’m sure some of you wonder what the heck I’m up to sometimes, too. It can get a bit tedious (for you as well as me) to explain relationships every time I mention someone, so to that end, [...] Yesterday was a long, long day. Wee One and I arrived at ShaMoo’s for babysitting duty in the early AM, because her youngest son was due at Toronto’s Sick Kids hospital for a serious procedure that morning, and I offered to stay with Princess Little Bit. I won’t go in to the whole thing – [...] Recently I organized a fundraiser for our larger choral group, which took place last night. That I didn’t have a camera on me will forever have me mentally kicking myself!! I haven’t put together too many fundraisers before, all by my lonesome. Ok, I confess; this was the first one. The opportunity just hadn’t presented itself [...] This post will only make sense to a small handful of people, so please feel free to ignore. (heehee, I have so much fun, don’t I?)
