You know… that Blog?

I’m ok… Really!

Written By: Jenn - Jan• 14•11

Wow! I should learn to not post when I’m feeling really low, although I really do appreciate the loving comments I got (plus all of those on Facebook and sent via email!).

Sorry, didn’t mean to worry everyone. I’m ok, and feeling much better today. I can’t stay down for long periods of time… I’m not allowed! I have too many good people surrounding me and willing to kick my butt to remind me of that fact :)

A setback is all it was, and something we’ll get through and be the stronger for. I just really didn’t need that on top of everything else going on this month. It’s like every rotten thing that is lurking in the shadows takes the month of January to manifest. What is it with this month, anyway???

On top of feeling very sorry for myself yesterday, I got a call in the late afternoon from a police constable who wanted to speak to the Teen. Uhhhmmm… what? I asked what it was in regard to, and it turns out that she had her brand new 32GB iTouch stolen at school! Before CHRISTMAS! AND, she NEVER TOLD ME!!! ARGH! Turns out she knows exactly who took it, and people have seen this girl with it, but proving it is another story. Oh man. The police were having trouble tracking this girl down, but (once I calmed down and stopped speaking very loudly about trust and bad judgment) I had a look through Facebook on the Teen’s account, and found all kinds of ways to track her down! Her cell phone, for one thing, is listed in her profile, as is her boyfriend’s name and school, and umpteen other things. Why do I find it so easy to find out this information when the police, who are supposed to be trained for this sort of thing, cannot? Maybe I missed my calling :P I really hope we get it back. Past the fact that it’s an expensive piece of equipment, it was a gift for her 16th birthday.

Anyway.

After a full day of woe-is-me, I came to the conclusion that we should really treat this setback as an opportunity to explore some options we may not have thought about before. There’s all sorts of things a talented musical group can do, and I really think we should consider breaking out of the box. I also had an idea for this summer that can still move forward, and I’ll talk more about that once I have things in motion. Mysterious, non?

Oh, and one last thing before I sign off and go clean up some paperwork in my office… I have to tell you I am SO PROUD of Thom that he’s quit smoking!! SO PROUD!!! I know it’s hard, but wow, is it worth it. Way to go, Thom!!!

Jenn — if you are looking for new musical challenges, check out: http://www.avonvoices.com/

It is a program sponsored by Fergie (Black Eyed Peas) and Avon to find new talent. I have nothing to gain financially from sending you to the website. It is just something I thought might interest you.

Good to hear you feeling more empowered.
BTW shall we have each month as one of the haiku prompts? :O)

i do hope you get the iTouch. your daughter must really feel terrible for losing it, knowing who got it and not being able to retrieve it for now.

I can’t figure out how people make it ok in their minds to do stuff like that. How would they feel if something so expensive and special was stolen from them?

I really hope you get it back.

Sending positive vibes your way. Isn’t it just like a teenager…if we don’t tell Mommy the problem, maybe it will go away. Good luck tracking down the pilfered loot!
