Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

As of February 3, 2010, Silly Haiku Wednesday became “Sensational Haiku Wednesday”. Please adjust bookmarks and blog posts accordingly!

This week’s theme is: Renovation

My submission for this week:

Fresh paint, sawdust tracks
Measure that again, I think…?
Happy work best shared

Next week’s theme: Vision

Regular readers will know that on Monday I’m scheduled to have laser surgery to correct my extremely horrible vision. I am so excited, I can’t put it into words. Wish me luck!

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

  1. quilly says:

I am glad you two are enjoying your demolition and reconstruction. I had a heck of a time coming up with anything for this theme! I got it, but it was a stretch!

  2. Thom says:

Sounds like a lot of work to me. But nothing like sharing. Great Haiku :)

  3. Knarf says:

I almost forgot. Had to do these quickly ’cause I’m in the midst of doing a bit of reno myself at the moment (make that ‘days’)..

    Can do It yourself.
‘Done in hours’ the brochure read.
    That was last Friday.

    To renovate or sell.
Maybe I should have picked ‘sell’.
    Doctor will I live?

    Install new flooring
‘As easy as one two three’.
    Why am I on nine?

  4. Nessa says:

By sharing you mean let someone else do it completely, right? I actually remembered this week.

Skald’s sounds like the way they go in our house.

  5. Hey I already commented, where if my comments go? I’m having major comment stress today. Lost all the comments on my 365 photo blog – ahhh.

Anyway my previous comment went something like this. Great haiku, work is better shared and good luck with the surgery. How long is the recovery time?

    • Jenn says:

Thanks, Jade – I don’t see anything else from you… guess it got lost in the ether?!

PRK takes longer to recover from, so I’ll be offline for the better part of a week probably. That’ll be interesting…!

  6. Polly says:

Share? Hire a subcontractor! Worth it!

Good luck on your renovations. I went the spiritual route (what else is new) with my haiku this week.

    Swearing from downstairs.
    Is he that particular??
    Measure twice, cut once.

Ahhh, my wonderful Shmenkman. If I had a dollar for everytime I heard “*&^@$, need to redo that”, I could have paid to have someone do this bloody basement for us!! Happy Haiku Wednesday, everyone :)

  9. Lori Z. says:

Measure twice. Cut once.–as the saying goes. My parents have been helping my uncle move over the last three weekends. I think they might not see it as “happy work” but my uncle sure is “happy” they were there.

I hope your surgery goes well.

    • Jenn says:

Thanks! I’m so excited about it! Not looking forward to being offline and out of the loop for a week though…

I just love working with my hands :) Renos are fun (even when they’re not MINE).

  10. Amanda Moore says:

Yep I am happy when the worked is shared too LOL! Boy you really “nailed” the haiku this time! (snicker)

OK, then. Reno-time. A cupple of offerings this week:

    Paint will cover it.
    Graffiti proves difficult.
    Covered, yes; at last!

    Reno games are fun.
    Gold medals hard to achieve.
    Olympic result!

    See y’all next week (“vision”!)
