Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Accident(s)

      Happy accident
      Bumping into you today
      Genuine and True

      Happenstance and luck
      Narratives of our good life
      It’s no accident

      Make your own future
      Accidental good fortune?
      It rarely happens

      You know it, don’t you…
Hug me close, and hold my heart
      We’re no accident

Big thanks go out to JazzBumpa, Quilly, phd in yogurtry, Nessa, Tortuga, and Bing for submitting a plethora of great words last week! Next week’s word is courtesy of JazzBumpa!

Thanks also to Jade, for offering to Tweet out to her friends and get some new blood into our Haiku community!

Next week’s theme: Inhibition(s)

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

It’s all good…

You know something? You people ROCK my world.

Thanks to everyone who submitted possible prompt words (and ideas… hrmmm) for our Sensational Haiku Wednesday! WOW! We’ve got some great ones in there, and I think we’re set for a long time to come. Really appreciate the way you stepped up to help, so… THANKS :) Don’t forget to talk it up with your friends and readers. We want to grow this phenomenal Haiku community of ours!

Just got back from seeing my absolutely fabulous doctor and got my latest lab results back. I really love her, and not just because she said I looked great, and thought my hair looked wonderful and brought out my green eyes… I digress… Turns out I’m going to live! My cholesterol is back in line (thanks to Lipitor) and my thyroid meds had to be dropped down a bit, which hasn’t happened to me in… well, ever, really. I’ve been on the same dosage for 25 years, since I was first diagnosed by Dr. Duguid (Do Good… can you believe that name? Awesome name for a doctor.) back in College. So losing the weight and going to the gym has helped in more ways than one. Jenn 2.0 is happening, folks!

I’m a happy, happy camper.

Need some help…

Written By: Jenn - Nov• 11•10

Our beloved Sensational Haiku Wednesday meme is taxing my brain, and I need your help.

I know you can help me. (Admit it; you’ve started to actually think in haiku, haven’t you.) Oh yes… you can help me.

Check out all the prompts we’ve used over the past year and a half (it’ll open in another tab)… some great words in there! Trouble is, I’m running out of ideas. Well, not technically true, but I am running out of ideas I can use here ;)

I mean c’mon… I used “accident(s)” for next week because I was sitting there watching the late edition news as I wrote up yesterday’s post. Clearly I need some help.

We’re down a bit in weekly Haiku participation too. That distresses me! It’s a no-pressure meme, so I’m not going to come looking for you if you miss a week or two, but haiku is so fabulous, and our group is the best on the planet, so… where is everyone? Ok, J-B is on vacation (which he really needed because he was getting crabby. Just sayin’.), Thom is on a blogging hiatus (which he really needed because he was getting crabby. Just sayin’. Oh wait, I see a theme developing here…), crazily-busy world-traveling Jade had to cut back a bit to every-other-week, and our friend Rosidah just published a book called “TERBIT: setan 911” (which I can’t find a link to just yet) and might be somewhat busy with that!! Woo hoo Rosidah! We’re so proud of you!!! Of course a few others have big projects on their hands, so it’s understandable when they need a break. I get it! No pressure, right?

So… my dear, dear haiku-ing friends, I need 2 things from you.

I need some good words to use in the coming weeks, and I need you to bring your friends. Expand their horizons… haiku is a wonderful state of mind.

Oh, and I need sleep and a vacation, but you probably can’t help with that.

Lay your ideas on me!
