Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Manners

    You. Manners. Mind them!
    Tired of rude, unthinking twits
    Raining on the day

Close lips while eating
Say please. Thank you. You’re welcome!
It takes so little

    Open door? Look back…
Hold it for the next person
    Common courtesy.

Manners mean a lot
Teach your children from day one
Never be sorry.

Folks, a quick note about comments: A few of you don’t have Name/URL enabled on your blogs, and I CAN’T comment in that case. Take a moment to enable that, will you? There are other ways to combat spam and still allow people with their own domains to leave their homage to your greatness ;)

Next week’s theme: Home

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List (if you’re not listed and should be, please [politely] let me know!)

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

This week’s theme is: Distance

    Long distance. Again.
No contact, no hugs, no smiles.
    Getting used to it!

Going the distance
Easy doesn’t enter in
Do what you have to

    Horizon. So far.
    Quiet. Empty. Far too close.
    Prefer you right here!

♫ I will find my way
Yes, I can go the distance
I’ll be there some day…♪

Pinteresting? I think SO!

So who would have thunk it? A simple comment on Facebook, and suddenly Broot both loves and hates me? That’s ok; I have broad shoulders and a well developed funny-bone… and many people have that reaction to me. Haha

Since I introduced my dear friend Broot a couple weeks ago, I may have also sucked a few other unsuspecting girlfriends into the swirling, time-sucking vortex that is pinterest.com.

I am not even sure how I found the place. I think maybe I stumbled upon it when looking for design ideas for Wee One’s bedroom in our new house (not built yet). The rest is a blur. Suddenly I’m in the middle of it full bore, and I have folder upon OCD-organized folder on my hard drive with so many amazing ideas that there’s no possible way I’ll ever get to half of them.

Yesterday we had friends over, and I whipped up this unbelievably easy ice cream cake for dessert. So very easy, and everyone loved it! My only regret is that I didn’t double the recipe and make a bigger one. It even looked EXACTLY like the picture (which I grabbed from Pinterest – it’s not mine)

ice cream cake

So many artery clogging yummy recipes to find! I’ve tried several of them too, and all were instant hits with all concerned.

Sensational decorating ideas, DIY plans and ideas, fashion (some of which is beyond weird, but oh well), and among many other things, innovative and sensational kid crafts too! Wow, there just isn’t enough summer left to do them all. This one looks fun – I think we’ll be doing it this week!

My name is Jenn, and I’m a Pinterest Addict. There is no known cure besides a power failure and a low battery warning on your smart phone (because yep, they’ve got an app too!), and I’m completely ok with that (even if it makes my buddies hate me sometimes!).

Tuesday update: The Teen has been on the couch with her iTouch surfing Pinterest for 2 hours now… Oh the monsters I have created…! But if it gets her interested in cooking and stuff, YAY!
