You know… that Blog?

[New feature!] An Interview with… Thom

Written By: Jenn - Jan• 11•10

Along this journey of mine, in getting to know you all I’ve discovered that my readers and friends have more depth to them than a simple comment now and then can portray. This inspires me to delve deeper, and to that end I’ve decided to introduce a new “an Interview With…” feature. Let me know what you think. Who knows – you may discover something you never knew about someone you’ve been “reading” for ages!

My first victim guest is Thom, of “Thoms Place 4 Well, Whatever“.

Q. How do you find the time to blog as much as you do? My Google reader is completely spammed by daily “Thom thoughts”! Explain yourself!

    A. LOL It’s called using an iPhone. I have my WordPress App on there, I schedule everything in advance. When you post your SHW I do the next week right then and there. For my stories, I get ideas and write the info on my iPhone so I don’t forget what I was thinking. And mostly, it’s called not needing much sleep at all. I’m anal about keeping up to date and on top of things.

Q. What are you the most proud of? (Online or off)

    A. My family and friends.

Q. What is your favorite kind of music?

    A. Disco! Nothing better if you ask me.

Q. Coke or Pepsi?

    A. Coke! Pepsi tastes like sugar water

Q. What do you find the best and the worst about blogging?

    A. Best: The Friendships
Worst: Those that you continually comment on and they very rarely or never comment on your blog.

Q. Give me the best advice you’ve got in your arsenal. About anything.

    A. Think positive about every situation you are in or come across. I believe more in the power of positive thinking than anything. With that comes believing totally in myself. When I’m happy and things are good everyone and everything around me is good also. The glass is half full, never half empty.

Q. What is your idea of the perfect party?

    A. Depends upon the party!!! But the best is a non-scheduled barbecue at the beach.

Q. Who is your favorite author?

    A. Patricia Cornwell

Q. What is the one thing you’re most afraid of?

    A. [He’s lucky I live so far away. Consider this edited!!] Heights… ROFLMAO!!!

Q. And finally… I’ve wondered for ages – how do you know Quilly? You guys seem to be joined at the hip. Are you related?

    A. Last year either late January or early February I made a comment on a fellow blogger’s blog, here in Hawai’i who had mentioned Quilly. I went to her blog and left a comment. (I’m going from memory here, so there might be some CRS [Can’t Remember S**t]) Anyway I think Quilly sent me an email saying now don’t think that she’s a high mucky muck that she lives in Hawai’i Kai. I said “so do I!” We came to find out we live only 2, actually 1, long city block away from each other. She invited me to dinner, (we had roast, potatoes, carrots and dessert) and we just hit it off. I could be myself and she just accepted me with no questions asked. We just clicked. We think a lot alike on many issues and if we disagree we respect each other to let us say our piece. She is a kindred spirit. I feel like I’ve known her all my life now.

Eminent Eights

Written By: Jenn - Jan• 10•10

Thom tagged me with this Lucky Chinese Tag called “Eminent Eights”, so I guess I need to step up and do it!

Here goes:

8 TV shows I like to watch: (I don’t watch a lot of TV. Hrm.)

  • Heroes
  • Chuck
  • House
  • Breakfast Television (Toronto)
  • Little Mosque on the Prairie (shocker, eh?)
  • Anything Star Trek related
  • Home Reno programs on HGTV
  • The Weather Network (I did mention I don’t watch a lot of TV, right?)

8 Favorite Places to Eat & drink:

  • Brydens (a local pub we frequent after most rehearsals) – they have awesome nachos!
  • Cora’s (have a lunch date there this afternoon in fact!)
  • Moxie’s
  • Troy’s Diner (love to support a supporter!)
  • Kelsey’s
  • Montana’s (Wee One calls it “Hannah Montana’s”)
  • Picnics in the park or on the beach
  • Someone else’s house (What time do you want us over? What can I bring?)

8 Things I Look Forward To:

  • The first hug from my kids in the morning. In the Teen’s case, it’s sometimes an after-noon occurrence…
  • Singing with my group (another shocker, I know)
  • Traveling of any sort (love getting out of my comfort zone)
  • Good hugs
  • Romance. Maybe. Someday. *sigh*
  • Walking in the woods
  • Laughter
  • Growing old with someone who loves me

8 Things that Happened Yesterday:

  • Power failure that took out a big chunk of our town, above the water tower. Got mighty cold in here!
  • Went to the bank and panicked before discovering I had the Teen’s debit card instead of mine. Whew.
  • Played chauffeur to the Teen, and the Teen’s BFF (how is that different than any other day tho?)
  • Cleaned the cabinet that houses my many sets of bar glasses and cookbooks. Put aside a good many to get rid of, too! (ShaMoo, dearest, you’re a wino you drink wine, do you want some new glasses?)
  • Broke in my new hiking boots. Or rather, they broke ME in.
  • Made plans with Knarf to go GeoCaching next week with our dogs. Wonder if we can entice the rest of the group to come with us… that would be a hoot!
  • Spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out how Wee One scratched her face so badly… she has no idea.
  • Visited my grandmother in the hospital – she’s rallying, can you believe it? I can, that is one strong lady.

8 Things I Love About Winter:

  • Cosy sweaters
  • Curling up by the fireplace
  • Snow ball fights
  • I don’t have to shovel snow (isn’t that why we get married, after all??), so I can enjoy it
  • Christmas music (until Dec 26, then I’ve had enough)
  • After it snows, how clean and fresh everything looks
  • Watching the kids have fun building snowmen and snow forts
  • Yeah, I got nothing else. Sorry.

8 Things I Am Passionate About:

  • My family
  • My group
  • My friends
  • Music
  • Travel
  • Photography
  • Child safety issues
  • Oh yeah… and blogging! Wow, almost forgot that one!

8 Words/Phrases I (too) Often Use:

  • Awesome
  • You’ve got to be kidding
  • Anyway…
  • So, I had this dream last night… (ShaMoo, did you just choke on your coffee??)
  • Sure, I’ll do it (Note to self: learn to say NO)
  • Bite me
  • Are you out of your mind? (usually to the Teen)
  • What NOW? (usually to Wee One)

8 Things I’ve Learned from the Past:

  • Keep your mouth shut (ok, I’ve yet to learn that)
  • Think before you speak/email (erm, yeah, need to work on that too)
  • Tomorrow will NOT look after itself – plan ahead
  • No matter how much you want something, you just might not get it. Deal.
  • Life is short. Live.
  • Do one good deed per day, no matter how small.
  • Do things that make you happy. Make life worth living.
  • Always have something to look forward to, no matter how small

8 Blog friends I want to tag (however, some of these folks never participate in things like this):
