Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”
The basics: Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)
Here are the rules:
- Structure: While Haiku may be written by some in other styles, for THIS meme only 5-7-5 is acceptable. At least one of your haiku must be in this format.
- Theme/Prompt: We have a new prompt each week, and your haiku needs to be related to it, if not include the actual word in it. Feel free to leave a word suggestion in a comment!
- Linking: When you post your link, link to the blog post with your haiku, not to the main page of your blog.
- Reciprocate: If you participate and post your link on my website, you must have a link back here on your post. It’s only fair.
Folks not complying with the above risk having their links removed. Don’t make me be all “Grrrr” and stuff, it makes me grumpy! Thanks for your cooperation!
P.S. This is a really busy time for me – I may not get around to everyone each week. Sorry about that, but unfortunately I need to attend to business before pleasure!
This week’s theme is: Confidence
Write with confidence
Your thoughts are worth putting down
Even if you cringe
Chipmunks have to go
Making my blood pressure soar
Confidence cannon
Confident of this;
You and me, and family
Always togetherLightning hit my dish
Took me out for several days
Haiku therefore… late*** Please read the 4 simple guidelines above before you post your link.
Hi all – sorry, I’ve been offline since last Thursday when a massive T-storm took out not only the broadcast tower in town, but the dish on my chimney as well. Now I’m scrambling to catch up – sorry I’m late today!
Next week’s theme: Natural
Folks, a quick note about comments: A few of you don’t have Name/URL enabled on your blogs, and I CAN’T comment in that case. Take a moment to enable that, will you? There are other ways to combat spam and still allow people with their own domains to leave their homage to your greatness ;)
Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List (if you’re not listed and should be, please [politely] let me know!)
To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):
You can also choose to use only a text link, or either of these additional images I made for your use! Use This one (dark), or This one (light)!
amusing set….were you ‘confident’ your dish would work again?
I have a terrible ISP (cannot WAIT to move to civilization and get a good one) but the contractors they use are hands-down the best and so YEP I was confident they’d get me up and running again!! :)
aw. weather needs no confidence, come what may…
nice haiku!
I like the idea of confidence overcoming the “cringe” factor!!!
Glad you’re back. I was worried! :)
Glad everything seems okay now ~ storms can be so damaging ~ thanks for hosting ~ glad you are here again ~ excellent crafted haiku ~ thanks, ^_^ (A Creative Harbor)
These are good! I’m sitting here smiling about the water cannon and thinking of trying it on the bunnies… I especially like the first haiku though. This embodies the mindset I’m trying to take lately. Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your coffee time with your BFF! 8)
That sounds quite a scare.
We were confident
you would haiku once again,
and at last you have.
now i know where to look! nice to see you back!
That fits me too!
Suddenly twigged what you said about the lightning! At first I thought you meant cat/dog dish. Glad I read all the post before I wrote anything! (I need my morning coffee!) The chipmunks sound as if they are a bit more than a storm in a teacup too! You are certainly being challenged!
Hi Jenn – This is my first haiku in your Sensational Haiku Wednesday – and hope to do one each week. I’m glad you are okay after that lightening storm! And thank you for giving haiku lovers the challenge and opportunity to have fun together!
Hi…
I am so happy that I found this blog today…
My first post for you…
http://locomente.blogspot.in/2012/06/confidence.html
Love the first one! It so perfectly describes the insecurities of writing.
Great, love it, I will most assuredly participate next week. I wish I had known about this yesterday, my usual Sunday Haiku was late so it became a Wednesday blurb instead. Thank you for visiting my humble blog, I am glad you enjoyed your visit. Please drop by anytime. Love your blog/web page and that you’re a trekkie. I am too. I hope that buys my a few brownie points when in the future my grammar aint so good :)
Live long and prosper
Nice that you’re a Trekkie too
Fingers spread Salute
Om Shanti
Sorry I missed this.
I’m confident, though, that I’ll
be back very soon.
That first haiku is great advice for me – just what I needed! You’re certainly being challenged this year. Glad everything went smoothly.
Age fifty something
A crisis in confidence
Hope it will return
So glad to be back writing again
Melanie
My first attempt
hope it will be liked
feedbacks & comments awaited!
