Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Scare

    New to parenting
    Seventeen years today… wow!
    Lovely little “Ghoul”

Thrills, chills, and tingles
Darkness surrounds, an owl screams
The witching hour nears

    Aging rapidly
Years pass at a blur these days
    Scared? Just a little…!

Rusty spiderweb
Concrete jungle, dank alley
Darkness encroaches

Happy 17th birthday to The Teen! I brought her home 5 days later on Hallowe’en day, with little pumpkin slippers encasing her tiny feet. She was my gorgeous little “Ghoul” :) ♥

Folks, a quick note about comments: A few of you don’t have Name/URL enabled on your blogs, and I CAN’T comment in that case. Take a moment to enable that, will you? There are other ways to combat spam and still allow people with their own domains to leave their homage to your greatness ;)

Next week’s theme: Excel

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List (if you’re not listed and should be, please [politely] let me know!)

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

Not very poetic, but I got goose-bumps while I was writing it!

Dark with an owl screaming, witching hour nearing – that would make my hairs stand.

I like that first haiku – there’s a few ‘ghoulish girls’ inhabiting this house…

What can be more scary than being rooted to a spot, very vulnerable!!

Siggiofmaine; Can’t find your haiku anywhere, and you keep leaving the link to Gravatar instead of your site? If someone else knows her, please let her know! Thanks.

  15. Who needs Halloween?
I get my share of horror
    from politicians.

Could you please tell me when does a linky expire? If a new prompt is posted on a Wednesday then how many days do the participants have to submit their haiku?
