Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Health

    Years; a toll taken
    Shifting, drifting, wearing… parts
    Youth; a fleeting gift

Carefree and blissful
Seasons, moons, tides, pass, wane, flow
Careful and wiser

    Secret to long life;
Less stress, fat, couch, and excess?
    Nope; just keep breathing!

Regrets? Have a few
Then again, few to mention
Sinatra gets it

Folks, a quick note about comments: I do visit everyone, but a few of you don’t have Name/URL enabled on your blogs, and I CAN’T comment in that case. Take a moment to enable that, will you? There are other ways to combat spam and still allow people with their own domains to leave their homage to your greatness ;)

Next week’s theme: Fortitude (Definition)

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List (if you’re not listed and should be, please let me know!)

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

  1. “Just keep breathing”

Excellent advice, which I intend to take–until I can no longer take it!

BTW, I’m very disappointed that Thom hasn’t linked up yet! :-)

  2. Difficult prompt but I think I got there in the end. I look forward to reading everyone else’s!

  3. Madeleine says:

Youth; a fleeting gift, so true. Great haiku as always :O)

  4. Thom says:

I love your line on youth, but regrets: Never. Hope you had a good vacation.

  5. I haven’t had a chance to post this haiku:

    Coffee, choc’late, wine
either bad for us or fine —
    please make up your mind.

  6. A great range of haikus on different kinds of health! And the Sinatra one is a cute finale!

You certainly is a fleeting gift that no one sees til it’s gone! wonderful work on these!

  9. Very nice. Your theme this week coincides nicely with my rant yesterday; thank you.

  10. Thom says:

Nope haven’t seen the FB pictures. I’ll get there soon. :) MWAH!!!

  11. RiA says:

I think the keep breathing thing is key! My great grandfather lived to 104 and smoked a pipe, the occasional cigar, and loved his whiskey and beer!

SORRY I haven’t been around. I was in a funk. I think I’m back now though.

    • Jenn says:

If a break is what is needed, a break is what you take – no questions asked! :) We did miss you though! Hope you’re in a better place now. *hugs*

  12. Old Raven says:

This was really difficult for me, as I could not get away from the literal.

  13. Melissa B. says:

    School is almost out.
    I’m starting to feel better
    every day now.

  14. Hopefully I’ve solved the commenting issue – thanks for bringing it to my attention – I was unaware due to the fact that I’ve only been blogging for about 5 weeks
