Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Secrets

      Will you ever know
What lays just behind the smile?
      You might be surprised

      Divulging a truth
      Serious consequences
      Best undiscovered

      Suspect awareness
      Buried within the darkness
      Lies a quiet need

I’m out of town this week – I will visit when I get back!

Next week’s theme: Belong(-ing)

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List

I’ve had a bit of fun with this week’s Haiku. I was at a Music camp not too long ago and had a wonderful time. I had brought my ‘Fedora’ (Indiana Jones style) with me and, astonishingly, it drew quite a bit of attention. It quickly made the rounds (not with the men mind you). On my return home, I told my friends about this attention the hat had gotten and the ‘secrets’ it must have. So I thought I’d pass on the story here, in Haiku form (well..5,7,5 form) and… I hope you enjoy this short little spoof about my hat.

Some secrets are best never found out. Even if the keeper is smiling, please back off that ground. Nice grouping, Jenn.

Mind what Jim said — I’ve had enough life experience to know that some enigmatic smiles should be left enigmatic.

  8. I enjoyed your haiku Jenn…the line “best undiscovered” speaks volumes to me for that is how I’ve lived my entire life until recently, as I am delving head 1st into territories that scare me and I know will leave me with pain and battle scars. However, how can we grow if we don’t work through the pain that is holding us back? Good to be back and I hope not to stay away so long next time.
