Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Flames

My submission for this week:

What did I forget?
Came in here for a reason…
Flaming (%^&*)… not again?!

Next week’s theme: Connection

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

  1. Knarf says:

In all fairness, the first Haiku was done with the help of my buddy Stu. …See ShaMoo…there are benefits going to Bryden’s after the Chorister’s practice. We missed you and hope (gleefully) that you turned in early tonight.

    Snow on cedar bough.
    Lightning strike rapidly flames.
    Cool embers smoulder.

    My old flame still calls.
    Being married makes it wrong!
    I tell her no way.

    There’s a boy named jack.
    Must quickly jump that candle.
    Oo, now needs first aide.

    Keyboard flaming hot.
    Words spewing out rapidily.
    Did she get in first?

    She’s so flaming fast.
    And so darn competitive!
    Wonder if she won?

    Truth soon uncovered
How flaming fast was she now?
    By final placement!

    • Jenn says:

Holy crap! You guys arrived within 20 seconds of each other! hahahaha! Too funny! You still won, Frankie – which, after what ShaMoo did to me tonight, is AWESOME!!!

    • Jenn says:

Yep, Stu wrote it on a napkin tonight! Awesome. You can take credit for the rest of them though Frank!

    • RiA says:

    The fire is going
    Where are those damn marshmallows?
    It’s time for some s’mores!

    • Jenn says:

hahaha!!! Too funny that you were both here at the same time – I could just see you both poised to paste your haikus! LOVE IT!

    • Jenn says:

I was sitting here giggling as you both showed up within seconds of each other ;)

  3. ShaMoo says:

DAMMIT!!! Jenn, did he slip you some cashola?? Pfffft….you win, Knarf!

  4. Knarf says:

Looks like ShaMoo’s placement is second…heheheh. Maybe next time :)

My job is done…everything is right in the World…I’m off to bed now… Happy Wednesday everyone.. Love you all…

  17. J-B says:

Watching the ShaMoo / Knarf show weekly, now, has become quite the entertainment. Better continue to fan the flames of competition! Here are some offerings on this week’s word; you may notice an emerging theme . . . Must be spring!

    Didn’t get it right.
Should have sung my notes better.
    Flaming mad, I am!

    Flame out! Down in flames!
    Expressions with clear meaning.
    Descriptive, aren’t they?

    Too steamy, was I?
    Those were just glowing embers:
    Flaming hot next time!

    Candlelight sparkles.
The room is aglow in warmth.
    Love’s flickering hope . . . .

    Barbecue’s fired up.
    Got distracted: meat’s ruined.
    Flaming idiot!

    Feel flames of passion.
    Fires of desire: heat’s intense!
    Love’s thermometer . . . .

    Love’s flame in my heart
    Burns brightly for you always.
    Warmth. Peace. Friendship. Yes!

‘Til next week, my haiku heroes!!

    • Jenn says:
