Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Dance

My submission for this week:

Here he comes again
Side step and jump away now!
Or Zack knocks us down

This is Zack, Knarf, and ShaMoo’s son Frank #2 on a hike this morning with ShaMoo, J-B and I. Zack is lethal with a stick; for him, size absolutely matters… he likes nothing better than trying to sweep the legs out from under us. He repeatedly barreled through us, stopped to wait until we passed him, and then did it again. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Next week’s theme: Flames

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

  1. Knarf says:

Sometimes I wish I lived in Newfoundland. I’d be in bed by now since midnight comes much faster there than here.

    The water sparkles.
    Sunlight dancing on the waves.
    Answering the sky.

    “Dance”! Said the outlaw.
    Bullets traced the man’s boots.
    Dancing came quickly.

    Thoughts dance through my mind.
    Some perverse but not wicked.
    Maybe wascally?

    Sparrow seeks a mate.
    Dances from branch to another
    Did she buy the act?

    Divas love to win.
    Fingers forever dancing.
    Did she get there first?

    The keyboard keys hum.
    Fingers dance over the board.
    Wonder if she won?

    But maybe she did.
Does it end there or go on?
    Probably dance on.

    • ShaMoo says:

Knarf, you beat me fair and square!! I was in bed before midnight, for a change, and totally forgot…. There’s always next week ;)

    • J-B says:

You win! ShaMoo forgot, even given your concluding 3 pieces here? Hmmmmmmm?????
      Well done, my friend! J-B

  2. Jenn says:

No, our Diva didn’t win – I knew you’d be here first Knarf ;) You two are so funny!

  10. tilden says:

dogs with big sticks are great fun arent they?

  11. J-B says:

Happy Haiku-day, everyone! Here’s a few “dance-themed” musings from the J-B for this week:

    Confront it head-on?
    Or dance around the subject?
    Option one is best!

    Fast dancing is fine:
    Exercise, rhythm, et. al.
    But slow dancing, . . . . ah!

    Took you to the dance.
Took you straight home from the dance.
    That first good night kiss . . . .

    You want me to what?
    Interpretive dance? Maybe.

‘Til next week my friends, J-B

    • Jenn says:

Wow J-B… is it warm in here or what?

I totally want to see you do an interpretive dance. Work on that for tonight at the studio, will you? ;)
