ShaMoo and I performed in a concert last night with the group we sing with. The music for this concert was everything we hoped it would be, and the audience was very appreciative. I came away euphoric, and bone weary! I love the energy that goes into our performances.
This coming week ShaMoo and I are excited to be breaking ground on a new quartet – one we have been dreaming about forming pretty much since we met.
Singing in a large group is wonderful, don’t get me wrong, but we have very little control over what kind of music we sing. If we love it – great! If we don’t… well, you get the idea. Starting our own, tight-knit group means we will be singing only music that we love, and nothing else! To get that euphoria on a regular basis, and to forge our own musical pathways… well, it’s going to be an awesome
I think “The ShaMettes” has a nice ring to it ;)
Sounds like a cleaning product ;) And you don’t qualify for this contest missy!
I came over to check out your quartet after reading about it at So Not Zen, where you mentioned it in the comments. Before I can provide a brilliant name, I need to see the foursome, or at least hear an audio clip. So where’s the media? :-)
Doh. Just realized you’d commented at Mama Milton, who also did a post on insomnia. Anyhoo, I also realized that you don’t have a “email follow up comments” thingy on your blog, so I don’t know if I’ll see whether you post any sort of response. Unless this works differently than I thought. Which might be because I don’t know much about technology and think it is all really just wizard magic.
Jenny and the Blocks? LOL Ok…yes…I am in a sh*t disturbing mood..Mouahaha!
=- Fantastic Forrest (great name!): We don’t have any sound bites yet – we are getting together on Wednesday to get going :) However, if you think in terms of a mix of The Nylons, Manhattan Transfer and the Mamas and the Papas… if you’re not running for the Forest (har har) at that point, you’ll get the idea!
I’ll see if I can dig up some MP3 sound bites of the other group we sing with. Our Tenor is a true Irish Tenor, ShaMoo is a Soprano DIVA. I’m an Irish Alto (didn’t know such a thing existed, did you!) and our Bass is… not a fish. ;)
And yes, this particular setup doesn’t have the comment follow up widget – I’m still tweaking. Love the look, but it seems a bit limited still. As always, a work in progress!
Sounds like a lot of fun. Wishing you lots of luck. Here are three names that I think would be fun.
Act Four, Blend or L’Attitude.
I can’t wait to hear your music! Now for names. Fab Four? Quartones?
Hmmm, you say “DIVA” like it’s a bad thing….
Of course not ;)
