Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”
Click here for info and background on this weekly event!
The basics:
Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)
This week’s theme is: FreeStyle – whatever you like
Transitions, movement
Ever changing, stretch away
Childhood, and dreaming.
Next week’s theme: Future
Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List
To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):
Monday was ShaMoo’s wedding anniversary. She gave her hubby an enjoyable, and surprising, pre-anniversary present with a helicopter ride over Toronto the day before. She’s quite a lady … my very best wishes to this fantastic couple on their 13th anniversary.
Last week I was away at a Music Camp. In a sense it turned out to be a retreat as well. No TV, newspaper, internet, or phone (well I did have my cell for emergency purposes) anyway it was a heck of a lot of fun.
I was hot and sweaty earlier and about 6 PM went for a swim at our nearby lake. So because it’s ‘Free Style’ week my thoughts of the swim gave rise to this ‘Free Style Haiku’ Poem. I wanted to continue, to make it a bit longer but time ran out. I hope its okay… Knarf
I’m so proud, Knarf! You posted over at Brain Fart without me nagging at you! You are AWESOME! *hugs*
.
This is a nice prompt, Susan. You did well with yours. :)
Knarf’s haiku poem sounds like my olden days in New Hampshire. It would be New England for sure.
..
I learned to swim in college, so did Mrs. Jim (Nebraska and LSU). I had a broken foot in the middle so my swiming was limited. I got a “B’ for the course with the back stroke being my best as it was one for which I was in the water. I had to sit and watch a lot the others.
..
Who is Susan?
One more time, I am sorry. “Jenn, I know that blog.” Didn’t you use call it that? I remember I had trouble with names back then when it was on my page.
I hope I am not in too much trouble. I do know you are Jenn, and I am sorry. It came out wrong though.
..
You may live. This time. heehee ;)
We camped a lot at Plattsburg NY and Burlinton VT and the occasional romp down to ‘Old Orchid’ Maine when I was kid. Great summer days there and then too.
Great Haiku Jim! love the touch with pictures.. :)
Well, I *think* I managed to figure it out this week….I hope! Nice haiku, Jenn!! Knarf, welcome home….I’m off to read yours now :)
It’s been quite a week….very busy prepping for my in-laws’ arrival (see my post from the other day if you’d like an idea of what I’ve been doing!!) plus lots of other stuff going on. “Freestyle” as a theme usually trips me up quite nicely, but this week seemed pretty easy for me. I *think* I managed to link it up properly…couldn’t fix the spacing, no matter how hard I tried! Oh well…BABY STEPS!!! ;)
Oh, good. Looks like I had the right idea in doing mine. I”m all linked up. Great job, guys. This was fun.
Yep you did! Good job! :D
Great haiku, Jenn! I think I managed to git ‘er done (as far as linking goes) this week….God knows it took me long enough to figure it out! Happy Wednesday, all!
ShaMoo
Love it ShaMoo! especially the second verse…I could almost sense the tug on your heart… :)
Very nice. May all your dreams come true :) Excellent :)
I’m always grateful for the Freestyle weeks. Some of those other prompts leave me sweating!
Really? That surprises me! You always come through brilliantly :)
Nice and dreamy, you made good use of the free style. Still dizzy? hope not!
Yeah I am, but it’ll pass… eventually!

I missed this week but I am gearing up for next Wednesday.
I like your haiku. I never want to get too far away from childhood or dreaming.
