Welcome to the very first “Silly Haiku Wednesday!”
Haiku is Japanese in origin (so it only makes sense that a Canadian born Irish woman should latch on to it, don’tcha think?) and is simply 3 lines of non-rhyming words, of 5, 7 and 5 syllables respectively.
It is, frankly, the most inane sort of poetry, yet it makes me smile.
Traditionally about nature, we certainly don’t need to stick to that theme. In fact, let’s do a new theme every week! This week’s theme is: Your Home (your country, your town, or even your house)
Here is my silly submission, in honour of Canada Day:
Canada so ROCKS
Health care here is mostly free
Most of us are cool
To participate, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):
Hi Jenn. What a fun idea. I know I didn’t do it right. (the part about putting your code in my blog) Sorry. I’m computer challenged. I know just enough to confuse myself. Someone needs to take this computer away from me…..
Kids have flown the coop.
Empty nesting is overrated.
Miss those kids of mine.
Hi Annie – great Haiku! (a couple too many syllables on the second line, but I’m just happy you participated! heehee)
You just need to copy the code and paste it at the top of a blog entry (using the HTML view if you have more than one).
Thanks for joining!! Talk soon.
Jenn
I hope I did that right! I’m glad you wrote to me about this on my blog. Too fun!
Oh, I participated on my blog. Did I do it right? I mean both with that and the Mr. Linky
So cute!
Nice to meet you, Jenn! Happy Canada Day…my poem isn’t exactly “lite,” but thanks for giving me an excuse to start up again; after my haiku-a-day challenge back in April, I was too through with haiku…
Canada shaped me;
Brooklyn restored my faith in
possibility
Jenn, I am so sad I bombed on my first Haiku Wednesday. I’ll dazzle next Wednesday though. Take care.
Annie, don’t be sad – I loved it anyway! We’ll call it an Anniku! :D
Well I’ve had a go… not sure how good it is, lol… thanks for dropping by my blog :)
Awesome! Thanks for participating, everyone!
