Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”
Click here for info and background on this weekly event!
The basics:
Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)
Please folks; while there are many different ways to write this form of poetry, to avoid confusion, for this meme we are ONLY using the 5-7-5 rule for our haiku. Thanks!
This week’s theme is: Preparation
Even best laid plans
Often take a sudden turn
Be prepared for allSnowflakes and moonbeams
Velvet darkness envelopes
No preparation
Always the same date
Shouldn’t be such a surprise
Why aren’t you ready??Bah, Humbug? Perhaps.
The same thing year after year
Demotivates me
Haiku Folks: Sorry for the delayed start today – had some technical issues I couldn’t address until this morning!
Folks, a quick note about comments: A few of you don’t have Name/URL enabled on your blogs, and I CAN’T comment in that case. Take a moment to enable that, will you? There are other ways to combat spam and still allow people with their own domains to leave their homage to your greatness ;)
Next week’s theme: Spirit
Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List (if you’re not listed and should be, please [politely] let me know!)
To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):
My best-laid plans certainly take unexpected turns. My question: How can I possibly be prepared? :)
excellent haiku
you are always prepared!
Great Preparation J….
Now that’s the way to prepare.
Exactly how I feel!
I’m still having a hard time with the linking, sorry. These are fun to read, though.
Sorry Jenn, I decided to branch out with my own meme this week.
Your 3rd haiku this week gave me a wry smile. All very good as usual.
No problem, Madeleine! Wishing you success with yours. You’re welcome here any time.
Thanks for this new prompt.
Wish you all Great Holidays
I loved the second one with snowflakes and moonbeams. Dreamy! :)
Love that word “demotivates” and the image of “velvet darkness” is sensitive and beautiful!
Haven’t posted here for awhile with all the end of year “clutter” at school, but holidays now begin so I have some more time!
I’m submitting a haiku on preparing to gather courage and leave insecurities behind. Easier said than done, huh?
