Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Frustration

    Can’t have what you want
Live by the rules, dare not dream
    Don’t you ever stray

Blue eyes, gentle rain
Desire, reaching, never touch
Pressure defies. Lost.

    Give up good for great?
    Convention reigns. Hope is lost.
    Rock meets hard place. Drat.

Money flooding out
Cavernous holes, no budget
Trickle in too slow

Folks, a quick note about comments: A few of you don’t have Name/URL enabled on your blogs, and I CAN’T comment in that case. Take a moment to enable that, will you? There are other ways to combat spam and still allow people with their own domains to leave their homage to your greatness ;)

Next week’s theme: Distance

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List (if you’re not listed and should be, please let me know!)

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

You talk about frustration I woke up this morning and there was SHW. LOL. I put the wrong date. Oh well it happens. I like all of yours bit the last one is my fav. I guess it has something to do with holes that are cavernous. LOL Well done as usual.

  2. love all your haiku, Jenn! especially ~

    Desire, reaching, never touch
    Pressure defies. Lost.”

Rock meets hard place. I like it! :O)

  4. I relate to all the frustrations – especially right now! The second haiku has a special romantic longing kind of frustration!

  5. The meeting place of rock and hard(ness) is one with which I am intimately familiar!

  6. Amanda Moore says:

Jenn these are spot on, “rock meets hard place” is true for so many!

  8. Cathy H-S says:

    Love is forever;
    Thirty six years and counting
    Same quirks still bug me.

  9. Broot says:

    No matter what I
Do or say, it’s always the
    same stuff that bugs me.

    Lego on my floor
    Lego everywhere I see
    Frustrating Lego.

  10. I do not understand when you expect posting. I wrote a Haiku before Wed. and found it closed. I this continues I am not going to waste my time and talent on this sight. Make it clear with a date.

    Thanks, Melanie Bishop

Interesting comment. Well, let’s see. It’s Sensational Haiku WEDNESDAY, which means it starts – and gets posted – on WEDNESDAY. It’s Monday today.

Not sure if you wrote that or if some unbelievably rude person spoofed your ID and left the nasty comment, but it’s not welcome either way. Have a nice day.

    • Thom says:

Ummm I’m stepping in here. I’ve been doing these Haiku’s for a long time now. I don’t think it really matters when you post it on your blog. It’s your blog to do what you want. I believe if you found it closed it must be a problem with your blog and not this one. Sure there might be a closing date for linking and if you don’t make that date…that’s your fault no one elses. The link comes out on Wednesday and ever since I’ve been writing it’s only been on that day. I think it is very clear and always has been very clear. And Melanie please don’t waste your time here if you have comments like this. Jenn takes the time to do this every week. It’s not up to her to babysit and make sure that everyone posts their haiku on their own blog and then link it here. I find this comment of yours very rude myself and I don’t know you from Adam or Wanda. But I tell you I do know Jenn very well and you make a comment like that I will defend her to the end of time. So begone if you can’t behave here.

Ah Thom, my hero ;) We have a great haiku community going here. I’m sure this was an anomaly. Hope so anyway.

  11. Frustration and distance… I can quite relate to these themes. I hope to join you again this week :)
