Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Frost

      Frost on the window
      Yet another loved lyric
      Live life with a song

      Crystal threads entwine
      Seek silver tendrils outward
      Sparkle, shimmer, shine

      Aging, feel the cold
Frosty can stand it, not me
      Snuggled by the fire

Next week’s theme: Resolutions

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List

Brrrr — not one of my favorite subjects, but is is lovely. Your first haiku has me singing now, too — except I can’t carry a tune!

  2. Madeleine says:

I like the artist feel to your descriptions of frost :O)

  3. Nanka says:

Beautiful words used here …. Frosty Lyrics Crystal Silver Tendrils Sparkled Snuggled. These words have given a sparkling shimmer to the Haiku’s.

      Nanka-

I don’t know why I can’t leave you a comment – but your poetry was beautiful and the pictures went so well with it!

  4. I with you on snuggling up to the fire!

Thanks for hosting another great Haiku Wednesday!

  5. “Live life with a song”

I think I’ll take this as my motto for 2011. Thank you!

  6. Becky says:

These create such lovely images in my mind….and I’m totally with the last one!!!

  7. RiA says:

Your poem is sooo good – well except the last part.

Although my new skiing M.0. is hit the lifts when they open, ski all morning, soup and sammie for lunch, with some adult libations, and knit by the fire in the afternoon while the kids head back out.

  8. Donna says:

Snuggling up tending the kindling warms my heart. Love the use of color and sparkle, especially the tendrils which connote Spring, my favorite season. Just counting the days as I count syllables. All the best!

  9. Here’s my frost haiku:

    Neglected Queens streets
Piled with snow and slick with ice.
    Residents frosted.

My limerick about New York City’s snow removal mess is here.

I love your…especially the aging part…which is why we are ramping up to migrate to the desert for a few months…which is why I’m so confused and behind on everything. Thanks for inviting us in.

Hi folks! Great round of haiku for this week! I’m a bit late getting around to everyone, but I am doing that today. Had a rough day yesterday and just couldn’t get to it.

Still can’t leave comments on blogs who don’t have Name/URL enabled, but I did visit, and think everyone did a super job with this theme. Seems to have struck a creative and dreamy chord with everyone.

Happy New Year to all of my bloggy buddies out there! You’ve made this a great year for me, and I’m thankful to have each and every one of you in my life.
