Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”
Click here for info and background on this weekly event!
The basics:
Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)
This week’s theme is: Respect
Laughter turns to hush
A time and place for all things
And skill to know whenFine lines drawn quickly
Crossing one incurs such risk
Think carefully nowSing the song out loud
R-E-S-P-E-C-T!
Now own it, girlfriend!
Once again I’m out of town on business – I’ll stop by when I get back later this week. Have a wonderful day, everyone!
Next week’s theme: Stress
Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List
To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):
I thought I’d be really stuck this week but it is amazing the clarity that can come from being the only one awake in the house at an ungodly hour. This, people, is why I’m a nighthawk ;) Love your haiku today, Jenn (especially the last one)!! Hope your trip is going well :)
Peoples skill levels seem to be evaporating more and more the older I get. I love your last one. We were in the same wave length. Scary no? LOL. Have a great Wednesday. :)
I missed being here!
Mine is up.
Cute Gift
–Someone Is Special–
With Humble Respect —
SHW is fun.
My life will settle down soon.
I will join you then.
We’re off on the ferry, and then a 7 hour drive over the mountain, to spend a couple of days with my family. I didn’t want to put up a Haiku when I won’t be able to return visits. See you when I get back!
Your haiku go well with your last post. People gained such an idea of entitlement over the last 20 years many don’t respect anything especially themselves. They think they should be given everything.
Great haiku today, Jenn. Here’s a few from j-b for this week . . . http://brain-fart.com/2010/09/j-bs-sensational-haiku-wednesday-7/
Have a good week, everyone! :)
I had a couple of different ideas…one (that I did not go with) was much along your lines…isn’t it wonderful that there are 7 letters in respect? Great haiku.
I’m late! got involved with some music stuff for …MSQ. …And my dog is a little under the weather…I have a great deal of ‘respect’ (and love) for him… :)
Great haikus Jenn – I also love the last one. That song is such a great song to sing at the top of your voice – the way I love to sing in the car!
I do not think that
anyone says it better
than Aretha did.
:) Hope you are well Jenn!
That last stanza is way cool Girlfriend!
Nanka,
I cannot get you comments to open to leave one. Please advise.
i’m claiming it, girlfriend! ;)
we draw the line and most people don’t get it. why is it so hard to give space to another? or maybe they just don’t see it at all.
I made it this week!!! Yay! I can’t wait to start reading everyone’s work…respectfully!
nice theme,
Thanks for sharing!
