Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Rare

    Elusive, wanted
Never to hold; just a dream
    Impossible need

Brilliant bauble
So far out of reach, this gem
One of a kind stone

    Some call it blue rare
    Disgusting, dripping… yucky!
    Can’t you just cook it?!

A man of his word
Humorous and trustworthy
My father; good man.

Folks, a quick note about comments: A few of you don’t have Name/URL enabled on your blogs, and I CAN’T comment in that case. Take a moment to enable that, will you? There are other ways to combat spam and still allow people with their own domains to leave their homage to your greatness ;)

Next week’s theme: Debonnaire… Still sense a theme? ;)

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List (if you’re not listed and should be, please [politely] let me know!)

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

For Thom

Written By: Jenn - Oct• 11•11

Just visited Google+ for the first time in a week or so (it’s just not catching on for me as well as Facebook. yet) and all I saw was post after post about TV shows, all by my buddy Thom. And… suddenly I was thinking in Limerick. Unusual for me given that I normally think in Haiku. I blame Mad Kane.

I once had a Facebook amigo
Who posted and tweeted a huge flow
One day he ran dry
He looked up at the sky
And yelled “Hey… where did my whole adult life go?!!!”

Heehee… love you, Thom! XOXO

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Flare/Flair*

    An artistic bent
    Eyes on you, Naturally
    Do it with such flair

A flick of the wrist
Fingers dance across the keys
Adept style and grace

    Life style and mindset
A gift; know no other way
    Panache, wit, and flair

Like a pheromone
Dancing by onlooking eyes
Heady attractant

*haha, I’m an idiot. As it was pointed out to me by a bloggy buddy, I used the word “flare” incorrectly, where it should have been “flair”. As a result, I’ve added the different spelling as an option for you. Mostly because I don’t want to rewrite my haiku ;)

You can tell I a) am completely stressed out and tired, and b) wrote my haiku and got the whole thing online in under 5 minutes this morning when I got my internet access back.
