Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

Please folks; while there are many different ways to write this form of poetry, to avoid confusion, for this meme we are ONLY using the 5-7-5 rule for our haiku. Thanks!

This week’s theme is: Malice

    Red hot rage turns cold
    Undercurrents run downhill
    It cannot end well

Absence of Malice
Malice in Wonderland (yuck)
Good and bad movies

    In the minds of men
    Such chaos often lurking
    Can’t let anger go

Shoppers; Black Friday
Christmas spirit? Avoid malls!
Women are crazy!

p.s. I can say that because I’m a woman! I’m also out of here on a mini, much-needed holiday with the Hubby. See you in a few days!

Folks, a quick note about comments: A few of you don’t have Name/URL enabled on your blogs, and I CAN’T comment in that case. Take a moment to enable that, will you? There are other ways to combat spam and still allow people with their own domains to leave their homage to your greatness ;)

Next week’s theme: Preparation

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List (if you’re not listed and should be, please [politely] let me know!)

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Absence

    Darkness, empty void
    Something important missing
    Someone… ah, it’s you

Different; the need
Deeper than just mere friendship
Quieter than me

    Too much time passing
    Quick flashes of brilliance
    So few words spoken

Settled. Done. Small smile
Conclusions drawn, limits reached
Quiet acceptance

You’re never *truly* alone…

Written By: Jenn - Nov• 28•11

That is, unless you want to be.

I could not for the life of me get to sleep last night. I almost made it shortly after midnight, but something jerked my mind awake, and that was it for me. I laid there listening to the Hubby breathe for close to 2 hours before I gave up and wandered to my office to flick this thing on again, and see what was happening while I should have been slumbering.

Posted a Facebook update, thinking it would go largely ignored at that time of night… and a weird thing happened.

The Jenn Club (and friends)
(Names shortened to protect privacy as warranted! No “outing” people on my blog!)

I used to suffer from insomnia constantly and for years, but haven’t for a while now, until last night. It still takes me at least 30+ minutes to fall asleep, but at least I get there. Usually. What I found funny about last night was that it was mostly “Jenns” who responded! (Did our parents doom us to eternal sleeplessness in naming us??!!) C can’t actually be called an insomniac since she was still enjoying her day in her part of the world, but the rest of us were looking at the wee hours of the night. And Amanda and Mad Kane joined us too!

A sad club to be part of, but I gotta say, ladies, I’m glad you were there to keep me company!
