Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Fortitude (Definition)

    Knowing the right course
    Intestinal fortitude
    Let it lead the way

Pathways of a truth
Tested, tempted, yet thwarted
Heart longs, but head wins

    Not always easy
    Following the right life path
    Generally worth it

A tough prompt maybe
Faith in our community
You can do it, folks!

Folks, a quick note about comments: I do visit everyone, but a few of you don’t have Name/URL enabled on your blogs, and I CAN’T comment in that case. Take a moment to enable that, will you? There are other ways to combat spam and still allow people with their own domains to leave their homage to your greatness ;)

Next week’s theme: Joy

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List (if you’re not listed and should be, please let me know!)

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

Ah ha … tis that time of the week again. I think (but don’t really know that perhaps I have been here 5 weeks now. I am enjoying the Haiku of others.

Still can’t comment on your blog! :( Distresses me!

“Some will have, some won’t” – very very true!

Thanks for letting me know about the “list” – you’re on it now :)

      • Old Raven says:

Jenn, thank you. I thought that I had fixed the issue. Perhaps I don’t know how to do so. Any further ideas on the subject? I do know that I often cannot comment upon Word Press Blogs. Thanks for any assistance. Liz

  2. Never heard this word before. Thanks for adding to my vocabulary!

  3. Thom says:

These are certainly thought provoking. My intestinal fortitude gets plugged up sometimes. Other times it flows like a river. But it’s mostly regular. LOL Nice ones.

  4. Broot says:

    No courage, no strength,
    Run from the adversity,
    Fortitude? Not here.

  5. Madeleine says:

Bizarre, for some reason I thought the theme this week was definition!
Your first 2 haiku very thought provoking. I like the intestinal fortitude. It takes guts! LOL! :O)

  6. Yup, it was a tough prompt–so tough that I’ll submit (in fear and trembling) only one link this week!

  7. It will give me great JOY to work with next week’s prompt!

  8. Darn! I came up with another one–multiple verses, even! What’s the matter with me? :-)

  9. Hmm so I thought I was rather late, turns out I’m 6 days early. Oh well, this crossing the pond business can be very confusing, sometimes it’s Wednesday and Thursday at the same time.

Anyway, I hope you are enjoying the summer.

Does that mean we’ll get another one next week?! Hope so :D

Summer has only just begun, but I intend to enjoy it! Met some Scottish folks at the Sandals club we were at – terrific people!

  10. afraid mine turned out to be a lack of fortitude. {smile}

  11. Great prompt for my week :) Sorry I didn’t get in on the linky love earlier; was trying to post & run as my days are INSANE. As evidenced in my haiku.

love you & your dedication [fortitude!]
