Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Deception

      Illusion, shadow
That which is, perhaps is not
      Sight difficulty

      Tepid perception
      Anticipate the changes
      Waking the senses

      Changes are needed
      View current reality
      Step out of the box

Next week’s theme: Transition

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List

I really like your take on these, especially the first one, it’s wonderful. You’ve captured lightheartedness and quirkiness.
    Have a great day!

  2. Love your insightful haiku! I really got to figure out about the illusions and shadows in my life. Trying to step out of the box sounds right :).

  3. This is quite a fun topic, at first I though it might be a bit depressing, but I had some fun with it.

Does transition relate to your new blog design for next week?! It’s still odd to come here and see this one.

Hope you are having a lovely week,
    Jade

its really fun to try your prompts.

  5. I have “sight difficulty” all the time! (And it’s not just because I need glasses to see clearly at a distance either!)

  6. Eerie…it appears we are both on the path to change. Great Haiku Jenn.

  7. Mad Kane says:

My haiku attempts didn’t work out well this time. But I do thank you for inspiring this serious limerick about deception:

    A Deceptive Limerick
    By Madeleine Begun Kane

When complaining that others have lied,
It’s important to look deep inside
    And ask if you knew
    All along it was you
Who had taken yourself for a ride.

    A Deceptive LImerick

Your haiku’s are great – the first especially true.

Mine are kind of depressed, but so am I right now.

  9. Kim Nelson says:

that which is, perhaps is not…..oh! I love it!!!

  11. Becca says:

I like how not depressing your haikus are! I don’t know why mine automatically went to depressing!

Mad Kane – awesome limerick! Loved it!

  13. Jenn says:

I’ve been around to see everyone’s now, and unfortunately couldn’t leave my thoughts on a few of them because Name/URL wasn’t enabled for comments. This makes me sad, folks! Anyway, know that I was there, and enjoyed your haiku posts…

  14. Gloria Y says:

If at first you don’t succeed (and I seldom do, first try)

I love the idea of Haiku Wednesday, but linked to my twitter (sigh) which will not do, at least for now . Until I blog up or set up a twitter blog I’ll post here. Sorry about that.
    Transitions haiku

    My back into it
head down I push forward hard
    Clear on what’s ahead

  15. Jenn says:

Gloria, switched it to point to your haiku in the comments. Thanks for playing.

  16. Madeleine says:

I missed this one due to my back probs.
Loved your take on the theme. :O)
