Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Inhibition(s)

      Arrive unannounced
Play havoc with your dream life
      Scurry off come morn

      Can you sense my thoughts
      When I gaze so intently
      And quietly smile…?

      The social taboo
      Wildly inhibited
      Like breath, too long held

      For just one sweet day
      Show off my inhibitions?
      Not bloody likely!

      Eye contact; a thrill
      Cast off your inhibitions…
      and finally see.

Next week’s theme: antique: Courtesy of Quilly!

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List

  1. Madeleine says:

I enjoyed your subtle hints at inhibitions :O)

  2. Victoria says:

I will visit Friday if not before. In the throes of preparing for Thanksgiving.

  3. Bodhirose says:

I’m here for the first time even though I love haiku and have written many. I enjoyed coming up with a haiku for this week’s theme of “Inhibition”–I know this feeling well. :)

I apologize–I didn’t add the link from here to my posting. :(

  4. RiA says:

I will be by later tonite to check out everyone’s poems.

  5. The stanza with “not bloody likely” is the one that resonates with me!

I see that participation in Sensational Haiku Wednesday is down, down, down. How disappointing! What do you think we can do about that, Jenn–short of forcing writers at gunpoint? :-)

    • Jenn says:

I know! I’m disappointed, but short of spending a ton of time (that I honestly don’t have) running around inviting people from all over and haunting those who are missing, I don’t know what else to try. Any ideas?

  6. Jim says:

Oh yes, HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Thank you for doing this nice meme.

Lets go find a flash mob today! Mine will be at Luby’s with Mrs. Jim, Jenna and her friend, Sean, and the waitstaff.

I’m in, but I might be late. Mostly because I don’t know where Luby’s is, and I’m in Canada. ;)

The “Oh yes” comment above was to comment on my previous comment that didn’t ‘comment.’
In it I had mentioned to you how much I enjoyed your nice set of haiku verses. Casting off inhibitions is a dream of, I’d say, over ninety percent of the people. Also that is why a lot have a few glasses of wine. “Every little sip helps!” :)

I’m not participating in Haiku Wednesday this week. My time wardens have nixed this for me. I do plan for it next week.

  8. Sorry so late. I know it is closed but I wrote a Haiku anyway.
