Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Contemplation

      The way things are now
      Perhaps not how I’d prefer
      But probably best.

Next week’s theme: Chocolate

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

  1. Knarf says:

Well here I am again! Stuck in a rut! I can’t think of anything to contemplate about …well…except something about my navel…
    Here I sit thinking!
    Of the word contemplation,
    My mind is a blank.

    And why should that be?
I think to myself once more.
    Again draw a blank.

    With my eyes squeezed tight,
    I emulate ‘The Thinker’.
    Tumbleweed bounce by.

    Like a barren plain,
    The wind blows unhindered,
    Nothing emerges.

    How to beat ShaMoo?
    Bet she’ll have something profound.
    Guess try to be first.

    Embarrassing though;
    Not having something witty,
    Or a profound thought.

(As a side note: I wanted to use the line “my mind too is bare” after the line “I emulate ‘The Thinker’ ….but I thought it might upset some… ;) so took a different direction. But, that would have been witty had I used it. Oh well. )… Have a great summer all…

that’s an awesome haiku epic poem! They say to meditate you must clear your mind – so maybe you should have done meditation.

  2. Jenn says:

hahaha Knarf! These are great :D Witty is never a problem for you.

Hrm, you never write about me or J-B. Should we be jealous??

  3. ShaMoo says:

Jenn, he never writes about you guys because you’ve never made him turkey dinner!! Mwahahaha…..get on that, would ya? Nice job, btw Knarf!! First this week….hmmmm; I’ve slipped yet again ;) Okay, here we go:

    Which dessert to have?
    The cheesecake or the brulee?
    Pfffft, just order both :)

Was there any doubt what I’d write about?? Seriously, people…. Have a great week, everyone; hopefully you’re all having fabulous weather like we are!!

    ShaMoo

    • Of course just order both – hmm cheesecake and creme brulee – yummy!

    • Jenn says:

But we’ve both made him other dinners! Ok, yummy but perhaps not as fabulous as your turkey extravaganza… We’ll have to work on that.

I’m shocked that you’d write about food… NOT. ;) Well done, and very YOU!

    • RiA says:

      In that scenario –
I’d make hubby order one, while I order the other – so I can taste both!

  4. Thom says:

Keep thinking. There might be better. But then again there might be worse. Nawh. Always better. Love the haiku. Have a great Wednesday. :)

  5. Weezer says:

These definitely get easier as you go along…..at least for me as long as I don’t try to get too lengthy with them. Maybe later. At least I remembered this week.

  6. Sometimes what we prefer is not what is best. I’ve learned that lesson before!

  7. Jenn…your haiku is quite profound and speaks volumes of truth! Nice!

  8. Michelle says:

Absolutely! I know that sometimes when things don’t work out the way I’d hoped, most of the time I look back and all is right with the world. Nice Haiku!

    Michelle

  9. Hmm I wonder what your haiku refers to. Very contemplative indeed, I hope it is the best for you.

    Have a great week,
    Jade

  10. Amanda Moore says:

very contemplative, sometimes we have to trust that everything will work out for the best…. Yes?
    (((((hugs)))))

  11. Mama Zen says:

Wow! This one pretty much says it all!

  12. I love how you are often so serious & thoughtful and I am a ridiculous goof.

    Psychoanalysis for $500, Alex.

    :)

    • Jenn says:

Steph, sometimes I may seem serious, but my “inner circle” knows that what I’m talking about has other connotations. Or… sometimes I’m as you see me. WYSIWYG… the trick is to figure out which is which! ;)

  13. quilly says:

    No time for Haiku,
but plenty of tine to think
    during long walk home.

  14. PinkLady says:

this haiku of yours summarizes my present life situation… excellent, jenn!

  15. Broot says:

    I think, think and think
and yet can’t think a good think
    my thinker broken?

  16. JennyMac says:

    Shall I do it or
will I miss out just waiting
    better live than regret
