Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Freestyle

My submission for this week:

Freaky little cat
Must you always wake me up
Sitting on my chest?

Next week’s theme: Decisions

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

Over the past two days, while hiking, I jotted down a few notes in my pad of the things that crossed my mind or seen on the way. It’s amazing what you do see when you actually do stop and look…and listen. Anyway I tried to follow a theme called ‘My Spring’. Regrettable some things I couldn’t address (ferns, red dogwood, the cedar and pines, etc). I just ran out of time. Anyway here are my thoughts on the season called ‘My SPRING’.
    I
    My spring

    Cold fast moving streams,
    drain water drenched landscapes.
    End winter’s bastion.

    Path once snow covered.
    Soppy and very muddy,
    snakes through the damp land.

    Downtrodden flora
    Protect and nourish new growth.
    Woodland renaissance?

    White clouds drift above.
    Turkey vultures circle there.
    Seek the winter dead.

    Denizens awake.
    Squirrels forage forest floor.
    Seeking last year’s cache.

    Ponds become alive.
    Geese squabble for nesting sites.
    Make cacophony.

    Lime green buds dot shrubs.
    Gentle and Refreshing breeze,
    Greet this new season.

    Bare Trees show life signs.
    Greenery hints everywhere.
    Mossy boulders glow.

    Woodland scents abound.
My dog scampers here and there.
    Sniffing everywhere.

    Feisty Crocuses.
    Singing Robins, squawking jays.
    Spring at last is here.

MY SPRING WORK TO BE DONE (Maybe ;) )

    Clean windows and screens.
Clean out crawl space and basement.
    To the dump we go.

    Cut dead rose branches.
    Rake garden, pick-up debris
    Oh my aching back!

haha, I knew that was you showing up to be ahead of ShaMoo ;) You’re so funny Frankie!

      These are AWESOME!!! Well done!!

  2. ShaMoo says:

Holy crow, Knarf…..nicely done! I’m a little miffed that you beat me to being first, but I’ll get over it ;)

Here’s my offering for this week (won’t be a page long, like Knarf….I have a hard enough time cranking ONE out, nevermind 38):

    There’s so much to do
    Time to refocus my thoughts
    And get things moving.

    Have a great day, everyone!

    • Jenn says:

These boots are made for walkin’, and that’s just what they’ll do…

Refocus, redirect, re-smack-upside-the-head… re: last night :)

      *hugs*

  8. We had a cat when we were younger who would always do that to my Mum too, it must be quite a scary feeling if you’re not used to it!

    • Jenn says:

Maybe, but I don’t mind it really, unless she also goes in for the kiss, which I’m not wild about – rough tongue! My last cat was 25lbs, and she even liked to do it. I rather like the weight and snuggles, truth be told. Boo is only 8lbs though, so for her it’s less weight than tiny/skinny paws digging into my… chest.

  9. Love Jenn’s — our cat used to do that when I was in high school but he eventually weighed so much that when he jumped onto the bed the sleeper was warned and could roll over!

And Knarf – a poet in your soul, for sure. Beautiful. I felt like I was on the hike with you!

    • Jenn says:

I don’t mind the weight, it’s the paws digging in, and the rough tongue kissing my nostril that makes me cringe!

Knarf is such a poet, in and out. He even speaks that way in person sometimes!

  10. RiA says:

Why do cats do that? When I had them they did that too!

Holy cow! That Knarf fellow is setting a new standard every week. We but live our meagre lives in his impressive shadow . . . Very well done, my friend: quantity AND quality!

Here’s just a few from the J-B for this week:

    Freestyle: free for all!
What the heck is that, dear Jenn?
    Run out of good themes?

    Red-faced a lot now!
I know not why this occurs.
    Must just be happy!

    New spring-time feelings.
    Fresh,exhilarating. Wow!
    Don’t you just love it?

    Cheers, all; ’til next week . . . .

    • Jenn says:

Ha ha :P I knew you were going to go that route when you kept calling it a free-for-all. I know you so well.

Yes I do love it… and your face too. I hope it’s just red because you’re happy, and we’re not killing you slowly!

  13. shakira says:

Oh my… I really do not like cats that much .. ours are in Seoul … Alexys and DH seems to really do not mind those cats putting their butts on their faces. Oh my.lol

Me got awards for you, come on over here Happy Wednesday! hugs with love, shakira
