Sensational Haiku Wednesday

Welcome to “Sensational Haiku Wednesday!”

Click here for info and background on this weekly event!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

As of February 3, 2010, Silly Haiku Wednesday has become “Sensational Haiku Wednesday”. Please adjust bookmarks and blog posts accordingly!

This week’s theme is: Comfort Zone

My submission for this week:

Most comfortable
But going nowhere… and fast
Time to change is now

Next week’s theme: Renovation

Note: Nothing makes me happier than to see new people getting “hooked on haiku”! Keep it going to make it to the Hooked on Haiku List

To participate in this week’s event, please use the following code in your post on your own blog (if you don’t have a blog, post your Haiku as a comment):

Okay here are my poems. Somehow I managed 5. You do quite of bit of thinking when walking in the woods with your dog. The first poem?…well what could be more comforting than comfort food? As I see it though, there are many zones of comfort and they come in a variety of tangible and intangible shapes and forms; all aiding the temporary serenity of the self. And one form was friendship which did inspire the first two.

    Comfort Zones by Knarf

    My zone of comfort?
    It’s very perishable;
    And involves eating.

    Words that bring comfort.
Words that soothe a troubled soul.
    Words from a good friend.

    A hidden comfort.
    Secluded within one’s heart;
    Springs an inner strength.

    Are random deep thoughts
    An escape from the present?
    Brief sanctuary?

    A country lane stroll.
    The air sweetened by clover.
    Refresh the senses.

Comfort food — which I am trying so hard to avoid! I want Oreos and milk. I am having mint tea. Long walks and reveries do go together well.

Jenn — the comment above was for Knarf. For you — change is good and comfort zones need frequent expansion!

  6. I agree if you feel you are going nowhere maybe you should make a change. Although if you have found somewhere you are happy sometimes there’s no need to make unnecessary changes just for the sake of it.

I like to make minor changes from time to time but sometime bigger changes are called for. We are moving within a month – need more space, right now!

Have a great day, the sun is shining here in Aberdeen and it was daylight when I woke up – spring is truly on it’s way and that, I find, brings postitive changes to alomst everybody’s mood!

Okay…I fixed my link! Jenn, if you could remove the “1st” one as it doesn’t work. Thanks. Off to read everyone’s Haiku, although I do believe Knarf nailed this one!

I forgot today was haiku day. I have to make a calendar.

Your haiku is a good reminder that we can be too comfortable.

  10. Sometimes we do get too comfortable and need to shake it up a bit! I don’t think my son feels the same way. He’s enjoying his comfort zone!

Thanks for adding me this morning!

J-B Sent this to me via email this morning, even after he told me – twice – last night that he’d have to disappoint me this week because he was heading out of town early this morning. Turns out he doesn’t like to disappoint me…

    I adore that man.

Here is his offering for today:

    Always in the zone.
    Zoned out today; it’s OK.
    Will find comfort soon!

It’s the eternal struggle…stay comfy, or stretch oneself. I guess I go through periods of one, then the other. My take on it is at my (new) blog!
