I have this friend who is going through a breakup and pending divorce… “finally” is all I can say about that. It’s been messy, and somewhat ugly, but her friends have been virtually high 5-ing her since the decision was made. Let’s just say she was sucked in by a no-goodnik, and leave it at that. At least she got 2 wonderful daughters out of the deal.
I’m trying to get her to set up her own blog, but so far she’s resisting! She says she doesn’t know how she’d do it, but frankly, we spent an hour on the phone yesterday, and she told me no less than 3 different stories that would have been so very blog-worthy. This friend of mine, whom I’ve known since we were pre-pubescent, has sarcastic wit, and a delicious sense of revenge. We all know how that is best served too, don’t we? Oh yes, she’s got a chilly sense about her, my friend D.
Of course, I’m torn between the idea of simply setting one up for her and presenting it as a done-deal, or just giving her a nudge every so often (like with this post!)… I could go ahead and set it up… have done that before, as we all know. Doodle-cakes and Brainfart were exactly that scenario, in fact. Doodle was thrilled… ShaMoo and J-B? Not so much, although ShaMoo was far more receptive to the idea than J-B was. I’m pretty sure they only participate in our Haiku Wednesday’s because they know it makes me happy. It does. That isn’t why I did it though – these folks have such great stories to tell, and I really want them to share!
Somewhat related to this, although not quite a clean segue… I’ve been more or less accused of being a bit pushy, recently, by someone I care deeply about. Wasn’t said in so many words, but I got the gist of it. Hard as it is for me, I’ve decided to pull back a bit, and not be as intense. It’s not in my nature to do so – we all know I wear my heart on my sleeve, and you always know where you stand with me – but not everyone is as open with their feelings, and I have to respect that. At least this person knows that I’m here, and how I feel. I just won’t be saying so quite so directly anymore. *shrug* we’ll see how that goes. I don’t hold much hope for me being able to stick to that, but I’ll certainly try. In the same vein, perhaps I won’t force D into things by strong-arming… she’s very much pig headed strong willed like me and would probably balk at it handled that way.
However, D… My readers would love to hear what happened at that gift shop the other day. To do that, they’d need some background as to how you got to that point! Oh, and that quote you told me about from that guy? It’s priceless, and needs to be shared. You have a great deal of sharing to do, my friend. Blogging is cathartic, and the people you meet are beyond wonderful. So worth doing. Let me know if you want my help getting set up ;)
But no pressure…
I know just how you feel Jenn. I have a couple of friends I wish would blog, too. I know they’d excel at it.
Keep nudging! I have a friend who lives a difficult life and for months, I’ve told her that blogging would not only provide a wonderful outlet, but would lead her to the most amazing and supportive community I’ve ever found. Bloggers are the best!!! Finally, she’s ready to do it…she just needs internet connection. Hopefully, a way will be provided soon!
Becky I’d so love to leave a comment on your blog… enable Name/URL, will you??? :)
