You know when you read someone’s blog, and they’re forever referencing people you don’t know? Or maybe you’re wondering about where they place in a blogger’s life?
Don’t you sometimes wish they had a cast list?
This is mine – it’s not by any stretch a complete list, but simply about those who I blog about the most:
Jenn
– well, that’d be me. You’ll get to know me best just by reading my blog. However, if you don’t have that kind of time, there is a bit about me here.
The Family
The Hubby – the unromantic but generally great guy this blogger is sharing her life with. He doesn’t know about this blog, by the way. Not that I deliberately want to hide a big part of my life from him, but I sometimes rant about him in here, and I don’t need him reading it, you know? Trust me, he’s happier that way. The Hubby is a great dad, and no matter what I might say about him in the heat of the moment, I do love him.
The Teen – my oldest daughter. A typical teenager in all ways. I’m enormously proud of this beautiful young woman. I am also freaked out by enjoying the all-too-fast transition from gawky, insecure child to capable, mature adult that is taking place at what often seems like double speed.
Wee One – my youngest daughter. She is 10 years (almost to the day) younger than The Teen, and was the most wonderful shock surprise of our lives. She is a very shy little one, and as we continue to work on that, it is as though I’m watching a beautiful rare flower slowly burst into bloom. She brings me such joy.
The Friends
(in Alphabetical order!)
Doodle Cakes – AKA “the Cake Lady”. Doodle is a dear friend that I met via another friend on Facebook. I kept drooling over her amazing cake creations, and making comments through our mutual friend, and finally we became friends and met offline. It may have started out as a cake thing, but in her I found a truly amazing person and great friend. She has 4 gorgeous children of her own, and is raising her niece as well. On top of 5 active kids, she has 3 dogs who she trains in the sport of Schutzhund (Tracking, Obedience, Protection – one does not mess with the Doodle!), a passle of cats, and other assorted pocket pets. (I suspect “NO” is not in her vocabulary!) How she can handle all of this and a wildly successful cake business with only the occasional migraine is beyond comprehension. Just thinking about her life exhausts me!
John-Boy – AKA LMLP. “John-Boy” is a nickname given to him by ShaMoo as an offhand comment, and it seems to have stuck. I think LMLP won’t though – it’s not very flattering, and he really isn’t a fibber! John is the Tenor in our group, formed in 2009, and we’ve known each other for almost 5 years now, via our larger choral group. We’re trying hard to bring John into the present day technically via Facebook, cell phone texting (he’s a semi-virgin in this regard), but he’s been great about visiting here every so often lately. (Probably because he’s not sure what the heck I’m going to write about him.) He always has a twinkle in his eye, and a song in his heart. He is happily married with two grown boys (which strangely enough I have not yet met! Update: I finally met one of the boys! Seems like a great guy; just like his dad.) John has become one of my closest friends, and I love him dearly.
Knarf – Pretty sure you can figure out his name is Frank ;) Frank is the Bass/Baritone of our group, and we also sing together in the larger choral group. Like John, and ShaMoo as well, we’ve all known each other for the same length of time. Frank has a great bunch of grown kids and a few terrific grandkids as well. His constant and faithful companion is Zack, his golden retriever. They’re out hitting the trails every day, rain or shine, which keeps them both extremely fit. I know I could never keep up with him! This funny, funny man is wonderful, sensitive, and I can always count on him as a great source of hilarious haiku! I adore him, and I’m thankful that he too has become one of my closest friends!
ShaMoo – my “BFF” and the Soprano in our group (that’d make me the Alto, by the way). ShaMoo and I started talking one night (about food, naturally) during intermission for a concert we were performing in (with the larger choral group) and something “clicked”. We’ve been fast friends ever since. She’s the best. ShaMoo is tall and thin, by the way, and in no way resembles a killer whale. Just thought I’d clarify that! She’s happily married to her very cute geneticist hubby (aka “Shmenkman”) and together they have 3 very active kids. “Frank & Frank” (aka Frank #1 and Frank #2), and Little Bit. You will find Guest Posts from ShaMoo on my blog, and I’m trying to get more out of her, so stay tuned! Note: ShaMoo is obviously not her real name, but because she has small kids and out of respect for her privacy we have elected to keep her as “ShaMoo” only. You understand :)
Main Street – Comprised of myself, ShaMoo, Frank, and John. This group is something I’d always wanted to do, but never had the opportunity to put together until last year. When we met and started getting to know each other, ShaMoo and I discussed forming a group, but that was put on hold when she found herself expecting her third child (Little Bit). John and Frank had no idea about that at the time, although it was always in our plans to ask them to join us. There simply were no other choices as far as we were concerned. When I approached them in the Spring of 2009, they were a bit shocked (and I understand now that John actually laughed at me! The nerve!) and thought I was joking. They came around quickly though, and soon we found them every bit as invested in the group as ShaMoo and I were! It was wonderful!
As trite as it sounds, the four of us believe it was fate; we were meant to be together. We fit together like puzzle pieces. A true family. We laugh all the time, and when we’re not laughing, we’re singing. Is it any wonder that my blog is often dripping with sentiment about these 3 beloved souls? When we formed our group, it brought a feeling of completion to my life. An awakening. True happiness.
Naturally I have many, many other people in my life, both online and off. We have couples that the Hubby and I hang around with, and I have other great friends that mean a lot to me. That they’re not listed here in no way means they’re not important to me! This list is simply a guide for what I talk about most (and what I’m most actively involved with/in right now) so my bloggy friends have a point of reference.
Capisce? Good.
